The "National
Day of Prayer" always occurs, by statute, on the first Thursday in
May each year. Its date this year is Thursday, May 4, 2017. The
2017 theme for our "National Day of Prayer" is “For Your Great Name’s Sake! Hear Us... Forgive Us...Heal Us!” based on Daniel 9:19. The following is an appropriate proclamation for
Thursday, May 4, 2017. Amend and/or adapt this however you desire, expressing
your sentiments and reflecting current concerns.
Mayors, Please be sure to release a copy of your proclamation to the
local newspapers and/or provide copies to your local clergy. Thank you.
Citizens, as this form has been used by many mayors, your mayor should
not hesitate to use it. Be sure to read it at your local National Day of Prayer
meetings. Please be sure to include prayer for your mayor and other local
officials at your meetings.
Feel free to copy and use the
