Prayer and the 2003 Crises

PRAYER AND THE 2003 (and beyond) CRISES (page in progress)

11/03/10 update: We apologize for not keeping this “current” but it is far too much for us to handle at the present. If you page through this you will see a bit of history in the making and how has answered prayer. We hope you have acquired the habit of “praying the news”, i.e. prayerfully considering the news you see and/or hear and praying as God’s Holy Spirit prompts you, according to His will.  Thank you. – Miles

Because our nation is in continual crisis and will be until the Church in America repents and experiences revival we suggest that you go to Biblical Basics On Praying For Our Nation for an excellent prayer guide.

Continue to pray daily for those in our military.

Pray specifically, so that specific praise may be given as God answers prayer! Praise God for hearing and answering!

We have found it helpful to “Pray the news (especially the “Headlines).” There is NO WAY for this page to keep up with daily crises. Christians, Intercessors, All who “abide in Christ (John 15),” It is urgent that you PRAY! May our constant prayer be, “Lord, teach ME to pray,” and “Lord, teach US (all Christians) to pray.”

As you pray you will want to keep informed as well about Current Issues and perhaps make your “voice” heard as God leads you. We must not only pray but be informed about issues that threaten the United States. “Righteousness exalteth a nation, but SIN IS A REPROACH TO ANY PEOPLE,” including our nation! Proverbs 14:34 (emphasis mine)

Just think of the vast potential (largely untapped) of the prayers of millions of Christians, instant in prayer, responding to God’s call to intercede for people, events, and situations as they see, read, and listen to the news media! Praise God as the answers come! “Pray without ceasing” (1 Thessalonians 5:17) “continuing instant in prayer” (Romans 12:12)

Follow the news and rejoice as God answers prayer!

Pray daily for our President. God may lead you to Pray and Fast. Blessed are they who follow God’s leading!

If you are a Christian, you are enlisted in God’s army of intercessors! The following are “starters.” Let God’s Holy Spirit prompt you as you pray!

A Prayer

“O Heavenly Father, let me not ‘curse,’ but rather ‘bless’ others, whether good or evil. Grant me the mercy, love and compassion to bless others, even my enemies, by prayer rather than cursing them.

Our Gracious Father, I now pray for those who persecute Christians and others. I ask that their eyes be opened to the truth in Jesus Christ Your Son, and that they be forgiven and saved from their sins. Let them know their twisted, warped, hateful, ungodly, destructive minds and ways and let them ‘repent and believe the gospel.’

Especially, now, I pray for the murderers who are killing people in Iraq, Afghanistan, Sudan, The Philippines, Indonesia, and around our world. Bring them to repentance and faith in You, the one true God. May there be mass repentance and faith among them! Enlighten their deluded minds, touch their hardened hearts, break their stubborn wills, and bring them to repentance and faith at the foot of the cross of Your Son Jesus. Instead of spilling innocent blood, may they find repentance through faith in the shed blood of Jesus Christ.

Grant, O God, Christians everywhere the grace and strength to endure hardships and persecution. Make each of us to be faithful and effective witnesses, even unto death if needs be!

Thank You, Blessed Father. In Jesus’ name, for Your glory, and the benefit of mankind I pray. Amen.”

(Call to holiness, prayer, and action)

We are thankful for President’s stand on the sanctity of marriage, and that the traditional and biblical view is the only one for our great United States of America. However, as you know, anarchy now threatens this institution and anarchy will spread to destroy ALL that is good, wholesome, godly, and “salt” in our society. Be assured that “Greater is He that is in us, than he that is in the world” but we are commanded to pray, and not to pray is a SIN!

The evil one, his followers, and his “dupes” are on the rampage. We are at war spiritually and culturally, and it’s time for you (us) to wake up, take on the full armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-18), and PRAY! Otherwise, you (we), along with the ungodly, will perish! Pray as if your life depended on it, and be assured that IT DOES. “Be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might.” Be sure of your relationship with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Be sure of your relationship with God through our Lord Jesus Christ so that you will know what and how to pray, and your prayers will be heard and answered.

It is high time for all sinners, backsliders, lukewarm Christians, and intercessors to “lay aside every weight and the sin that so easily besets you, seek God with all your heart, and fully serve the Lord! As you (we) humble yourself (ourselves), and pray, seeking His face, He will hear your (our) cries for forgiveness, forgive your sin, and heal you (us) and our land. TODAY, let us harden not our hearts but turn fully to Him. “Tomorrow” will be too late!

Sunday morning, February 22, 2004

Praise God that Saddam Hussein was captured! Pray fervently for his salvation. Pray that he will see Jesus the Christ in some of his captors, at least, and have a hunger and thirst to know more about Jesus. Pray that he receive the Word of God in his own language (if he hasn’t, already) and that he will read it, be convicted of his sin, and repent. Would this not please God, who “is not willing that any should perish?” Who are you, and who am I, to judge that Saddam is NOT one of God’s “elect?” Who would have considered Saul of Tarsus “elect” of God?

The well-known biblical commentator, Matthew Henry, regarding Christ’s words in John 17:9, “I pray not for the world,” states, “We that know not who are chosen, and who are passed by, must pray for all men, 1 Tim. ii. 1, 4. While there is life, there is hope, and room for prayer. See 1 Sam. xii. 23.”

Pray also for other “enemies.” Dare we neglect to be obedient to the command of Christ, and yet claim Him as Savior? Pray for me, for yourself, that God will forgive us our sins of disobedience!

Tuesday morning, August 5, 2003   (Iraq, also Afghanistan)

Praise God for His great faithfulness in answering the prayers of the righteous! Only eternity will reveal the inestimable eternal value of your prayers!

Pray that Christians will be faithful in interceding for the lost.

Thank God that Iraqis can learn more about the world through greater and freer access to news media. Pray that truth will prevail in the news media.

Pray that authentic, godly, Christian newspapers, radio, and TV programming will have a dominant place and attract people to the true God. Christian newspapers, radio, and TV in Iraq? Impossible? Not with God, for “With God all things are possible.”

Continue to ask that biblical truths and light will overcome the darkness and despair that has pervaded the precious Iraqi citizens so loved by God (John 3:16).

Pray that revival and renewal will permeate Iraq.

“Expect great things of God…attempt great things for God.” – William Carey

“Greater is He who is in you (Christians) than He that is in the world”

Monday morning, August 4, 2003  (Iraq)

Thank God that Iraq was not in “Top Stories from the New York Times” today. God is answering prayer on behalf of the Iraq situation! Continue to thank Him for each day no Coalition personnel are murdered. Thank Him for every evil scheme that is discovered and harm avoided. Pray that God will protect the Coalition personnel and other innocents. Pray that every murderous scheme and sabotage effort and plot of the enemy will be thwarted.

Thank Him for the many times He has spared innocent lives. Pray for the protection of Iraqi Christians and the spread of the gospel among Iraqis. Pray that God will remove the hatred, ignorance, prejudices, and false hopes of those deceived by Satan and that they will experience His love, truth, enlightenment, joy, peace, and new hope in Jesus, who loves them and died for their (and our) salvation. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life! Pray that He will set them free!

Pray for those saddened by the deaths of Saddam’s sons. Pray for the capture of Saddam Hussein, and the dashing of the false hopes of his followers. May they find hope in Christ! That’s right! We are asking for miracles, but isn’t that what God specializes in? Let’s keep praying and praising! God is able.

(Roadmap to Peace)

Praise God that attention is given to the unrest and senseless killing in the Middle East, thus alerting Christians to pray!

Pray that all who have an active part in bringing peace to the Middle East will have “wisdom from above” and every false religion and false way be exposed as such.

Pray that God’s plan and purposes will proceed unhindered. Pray that every plan contrary to His will be cast down. Pray that perpetrators of evil designs and actions will have a change of heart or have calamities, increased, return upon themselves.

Pray for all the inhabitants of the Middle East, that there will be sufficient peace that the light of the Gospel of Christ might continue to spread, and souls won for Him.

Pray that many will hunger and thirst after righteousness and find Jesus as Savior, thus bringing peace to their troubled hearts and souls.

(Iraq situation)

Pray that Coalition personnel who are Christians will be excellent examples of God’s power, goodness, and grace.

Pray for the protection and salvation of U.S. and British troops, and other occupation personnel of the Coalition. Pray that perpetrators of evil designs and actions will have a change of heart or have calamities, increased, return upon themselves.

Praise God for every day when NO Coalition troops or representatives are injured or killed! Pray that those days will increase into weeks, months, etc.

Pray that all well-intentioned Iraqis be protected from harm, and that their number will increase daily. Pray that their basic needs will be supplied and glory given to God.

Pray that all evil designs against God’s plan for the Iraqi people be exposed and made of none effect. Pray that a good and stable government be put in place rapidly.

Praise God for giving the liberating forces favor in the eyes of many Iraqis! Pray for the daily increase of this.

Pray that all Iraqis will realize that God’s way and plan is best. Pray that they will turn from Islam to the true God.

Thank God for the Iraqis that day by day are turning from fear to hope. Pray that they will hope in the true God.

Pray that the darkness, ignorance, fear, hatred, and belief in Islam that has enslaved many Iraqis will be removed. Pray that the glorious light of the Gospel of grace and peace will penetrate the darkness, bringing salvation, truth, peace, love, and that authentic Christianity will rapidly spread throughout Iraq.

Praise God for the many times He has given wisdom, discernment, insight, and knowledge to the Coalition, sparing lives and property. Pray for the daily increase of this.

Sunday morning, June 8, 2003  (praying for our “enemies”)

Pray for the salvation of Saddam Hussein (if alive), his family, and all those who were in positions of leadership and/or prominence during his regime. Pray that they will hear the gospel and have a change of heart. Remember that Saul of Tarsuspersecuted Christians but was transformed by the grace and power of Christ. “All things are possible!”

“Democracy” will not work in Iraq unless patterned after America‘s, founded by those who were Christians or followed Christian principles. Pray that there will be widespread propagation of God’s Holy Word, the Bible, in Iraq. Pray that Iraqis will become disillusioned of any and all false gods and religious beliefs. Pray that they will have a hunger and thirst for our true God’s Holy, life transforming, and destiny changing Word. Pray that professors of Christianity will be true followers of Christ and that multitudes of precious souls will come to Christ in Iraq.

Tuesday morning, May 20, 2003 (Getting to the heart of the matter)

We praise God for many Christians throughout the world who are praying for the gospel to reach unreached people groups. If you are an intercessor with a heart for praying for millions who are now in darkness we suggest that you read about the 10/40 window if you are not familiar with it. When the terror of darkness that pervades those who know not Christ, is removed by Jesus who is The Light of the World, terrorism in our world will lessen. Everywhere, and more than anything else, hearts changed by the gospel is the world’s greatest need! Pray….and obey what God asks of you.

Friday morning, May 2, 2003

Praise God for the millions of Americans who met in groups all across America yesterday to pray for our nation on its designated “National Day of Prayer.” Of greater significance are those Christians and closet “prayer warriors” who not only daily but constantly bombard heaven’s ramparts with their prayers that prevail! Pray that their ranks will swell, and prayers multiplied until God’s will is done, “on earth as it is in heaven.” Pray for their encouragement, commitment, and continued faithfulness. Pray for mighty outpourings of God’s Holy Spirit upon Christians everywhere, with His power for living holy lives and witnessing in our homes, workplaces, neighborhoods and the “reaches beyond.” Pray for one another! Lukewarmness and sinful lifestyles among professing Christians may be the greatest crisis in 2003! Revive us again, O Lord! Psalms 85:6

Praise God that attention is being given to establishing peace between the Israelis and Palestinians. Pray that the “Roadmap for Peace” or some other such plan be found to lower tensions and provide stability in that area. Pray that both the Israelis and Palestinians will come to know the Prince of peace, Jesus, and that present roadblocks to Christian witnessing and preaching of the gospel be removed.

Thank God that attention is being given to North Korea and its threats. Pray that a peaceful solution is found and the threat and danger to its neighbors and us be removed. Pray that North Koreans will experience the same freedom and prosperity that South Korea has now and that many will come to learn of Jesus’ love, God’s grace, and be saved!

We thank God that our armed forces have prevailed in Iraq and they are experiencing the initial stages (birth pangs) of “freedom.” Praise God for His mercies upon both our armed forces and innocent Iraqis. We aren’t sure how many Iraqi soldiers lost their lives, but are thankful that all the Americans, between 150 and 175, are accounted for. That appears miraculous as dire predictions were made about the loss of thousands. Praise God, He spared us this national sorrow! Continue to pray for the safety of our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan and comfort of the loved one of those lost. He faithfully answers prayer, praise His glorious name!

Pray that God’s plan will prevail in the establishment of a stable friendly government in Iraq that will not be hostile to the spreading of the gospel in that needy place. “Democracy” works only in an environment such as that of colonial days in America. Because our forefathers chose to forbid government interference with religious worship, institutions, and activities, we have experienced centuries of freedom. If their “democracy” leads to Theocracy of any kind it is doomed to failure.

Pray that God will enable the Iraqis to set up a government that will provide similar liberty in their land. Otherwise, their “liberation” will lead to anarchy, pandemonium, return to enslavement, and constant turmoil, an environment that at best will hinder the gospel, and at worst, lead to continual bloodshed, violence, and unrest (no peace).

Pray that God’s wisdom will guide the framing of their new constitution, and godly and honorable men and women are chosen for the whole work of establishing a stable and benevolent government. Let 1 Timothy 2:1-2 guide our prayers, that the Iraqis may become a people having the opportunity to lead quiet and godly lives.

1:00 P.M. Sunday, April 13, 2003

Praise God for the return of POW’s! Keep praying for others held prisoner or missing in action. Keep praying for order and peace to come out of the “chaos” in IraqIt will take miracles to make it happen, but as President Bush says, the American people are a “praying people.” Prayer is about miracles! Keep praying! It is far from “being over.”

Saturday, April 12, 2003

Praise God that many Iraqi soldiers in Northern Iraq have surrendered to the Coalition forces. It appears that they have given up. However, please pray fervently that any traps or “surprises” that the enemy has set for the Coalition forces will be discovered and averted. The enemy, seen and unseen, known and unknown, physical and spiritual, will not give up easily. Pray that they all will be more than overcome by the intervention of the true and living God, and that peace and order come quickly to Iraq. “Greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world.”

Friday, April 11, 2003

The following is a revised prayer alert we received a couple days ago and seems very appropriate. It’s time to pray, America!

“May He defend the cause of the poor of the people, give deliverance to the needy, and crush the oppressor!” –Psalm 72:4 (ESV)

The government of Iraq is almost totally collapsed, and it is time for a new administration to step in to lead the Iraqi people.

…It is important and urgent to pray that the next Iraqi president be a man of God’s own choosing–that he be a godly man, or at least a righteous one. For the past 30 years the Iraqi people have lived under unspeakable repression. But now their time of liberation is here!

Let’s pray for the Lord to raise up a wise, compassionate man who will lead Iraq into a new era of freedom; that Iraqi citizens will enjoy a society based on liberty and fairness. Please pray that under Iraq‘s new president, Iraqi Christians will be free to worship and proclaim Jesus to their fellow Iraqis without any repercussions.

Pray that Iraq will become a great nation that worships and serves Him, our one true Lord. All things are possible through Him.”

If you agree, Intercessors, please join us in prayer for these things which we believe will please God. Our God can do great things! Keep praying that His will be done and multitudes will find the Savior! The time is short!

Wednesday, April 9, 2003

Praise God that the Coalition forces are in Baghdad, as witnessed by the toppling of the statue of Saddam Hussein this morning about 10:50 A. M. Frankly, I have a sense that many of those loyal to Saddam are far from surrender and that a lot of danger lies ahead for our military. Please continue to pray for the protection and safety of the Coalition forces and that they will find favor in the eyes of all the Iraqis, both civilian and otherwise. Praise God that many Iraqi soldiers have surrendered. Pray that the rest will become disillusioned with their lost cause and surrender. May they live to learn about Jesus! Foremost of all, as we watch developments in the news, let our attitude be, “Lord, teach us to pray.” Requests and details are too multitudinous to list. Let God’s Holy Spirit guide us in the how and what of our intercession. Romans 8:26-28 reminds us “…The Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. 27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God. 28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”

Wednesday, April 2, 2003

Praise God as you watch and listen to news reports of victories and advance of the Coalition Forces in Iraq. Thank God for the rescue of 19 year old POW Jennifer. Pray for the safety and salvation of every POW. Some of the cities, such as Karbala, are of significant religious importance to the Shia Muslims. Pray unceasingly for the safety and protection of our advancing military and that civilian casualties will be minimal. Christ died to set THEM free, too! Pray fervently for the freedom of the Shia Muslims and most of all that they will be freed from the “kingdom” of death and darkness and be brought into the kingdom of God‘s Dear Son Jesus, our Savior.

The greatest tests for America and the Coalition Forces are yet to come (Baghdad). Pray unceasingly that their (and our) resolve will not fail, and that there will be complete and quick capitulation of the enemy. Pray on! Pray on!

Saturday A.M., March 29, 2003

Praise God for those who are responding to God’s call on their hearts! Pray that our military personnel will turn to God and find salvation, courage, and strength. Pray that Saddam Hussein and all those who are held captive by Satan (whoever and wherever they are) will have a change of heart and either be saved or lose heart in their hopeless and lost causes of murder, brutality, power, pleasure, comfort, and other things of temporal value alone) and surrender to the appropriate One and ones. That will be a miracle indeed but the God of Elijah still lives. Watch, pray, and praise without ceasing. Today the sound of battle, but afterward the victor’s cry!

Praise God that we know Him and His power! As the battle for righteousness rages there will be casualties. We look to Jesus and focus on Him and His awesome power! We hold to the promises of our God and remember our God reigns! It is He who has the final word and that word is GOOD! “Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might!” Whatever your calling, intercessor (prayer) or other warrior, let us keep on target, knowing that victory is assured! Pray that the righteous will always be mindful of the many scriptures that are encouraging and that they will take daily refuge in and draw strength from the Living God, and not yield any ground to the enemy, for “we are not ignorant of his devices” to dismay, discourage, distract, frustate, and defeat.

Pray that the truth will get out in spite of all the misinformation and ignorance that pervades our nation and the world. Pray that ALL people will know and acknowledge the truth (“the truth is in Jesus,” and “Every knee shall bow, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord!”). May the darkness of false religions and cults be pierced by the “Light of the World,” the Lord Jesus Christ! “God is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to the knowledge of the truth.”

“Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning!”

Wednesday A.M., March 26, 2003

Praise God that His intercessors are alive and well! Victory is first achieved in the “heavenlies.” We pray always for God’s will to be done, in and on earth as it is in heaven. “In earth,” in my mind at least, means “in these earthen vessels, us.” As God dwells in us and does His will in us, His will can be accomplished “on earth.” Pray for God’s chosen intercessors today, that they will be protected, holy, faithful, courageous, and persevering, always “strong in the Lord and in the power of His might!

We suggest that you click on Prayer Transformation Ministries and read the article “A Church Prepared.” Is your church prepared to minister during these days, weeks, months, and perhaps years of crisis? Let this note from Steve Loopstra challenge you!

Monday A.M., March 24, 2003

Praise God for His protection thus far, that loss of life is minimal, in view of the scope of the war and numbers involved. This is war! Pray His continued protection.

Praise God that advances continue to be made toward the overthrow of the evil regime of Saddam Hussein. Pray that Saddam will leave or be dealt with as God wills. About 3:00 A.M. this morning he gave a speech encouraging his people to resist the Coalition forces. Pray they will not resist the Coalition forces, as it will mean the loss of many lives.

The enemy forces, like their leaders, are using deceit to lure Americans to their deaths. Pray that our military, from highest in command down to the ones in the field of battle, will have uncanny discernment and will see through their treacherous and murderous schemes.

A few Americans have been taken prisoners of war. Pray they will be strong and courageous, as well as for their safe, healthy, and quick return.

Some Americans and British have been killed. Pray for those who bear the grief of their loss.

We ought always to pray, and not faint!

Saturday A.M., March 22, 2003

Praise God that only a few oil wells have been set ablaze by the Iraqis! We understand that only about 9 or so are burning. You will recall that when the Iraqis retreated from Kuwait in 1991 about 700 wells were deliberately set on fire! It was estimated at that time it would take 5 years to put them out but they were extinguished in less than a year, thanks be to God! Pray that no more wells be set afire!

Praise God that many Iraqi soldiers have surrendered and several key cities in south Iraq now under coalition forces. Pray that many more will surrender and the merciful treatment of them will lead them to faith in the true God.

Praise God that loss of American and British lives has been minimal, considering that we are at war. Pray God’s protective shield over the Coalition’s military forces (esp. no use of chemical or biological Weapons of Mass Destruction), and that their faith in Him be strengthened.

General Tommy Franks was questioned about an unconfirmed report of innocent Iraqis being killed in Baghdad. Anyone who observed the bombardment of Baghdad a day or so ago would be amazed if there were none. We continue to pray for minimal loss of life of both Iraqi citizens and Coalition Forces.

Pray for those who are grieved and sorrowing for the loss of their loved ones in the military, sacrificing their lives for us. May the God of all comfort make His loving, compassionate, caring presence known to them during this time of trial. As well, may they also know of our love, thoughts and prayers at this time.

March 18, 2003

As the Lord leads you, fast and pray for the safety of our military personnel and a quick victory over the evil regime of Iraq! Seek God’s face! Pray that, God willing, Saddam Hussein will abdicate and the Iraqi military will capitulate without using any weapons against our military or their own innocent people, especially those of mass destruction. Pray that Iraqis will become open to the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. May their darkness be pierced by the gospel! Be sure to praise the Lord as He answers our prayers and brings astonishing victory! May He receive the glory, honor, and praise. May the Mt. Carmel phrase be repeated, “The LORD, He is God! The LORD, He is God! – (You might start praising Him now!)

As Christians what a privilege it is to live in this present age! As our world faces crises of monumental proportions we can have peace and personal assurance. Jesus has given His promises.

He told his disciples “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. (John 14:27)

It is important that our relationship with God is right so that we have His peace, and confidence that he will hear and answer our prayers. Sin and disobedience will separate us from God.

In 1 John 3:21-24, the Bible says, “Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God. And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight. And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment. And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.” (1 John 3:21-24)

May the powerful truths contained in the above scripture really grip our hearts and minds as we thoughtfully read and study them!

Prayer is basic to living a Christian life. For those desiring to learn more about the general dynamics of prayer we invite you to browse HEREBe sure to scroll down to view helps in praying for various groups.

However, there are differing forms and levels of prayer. Intercessory prayer, interceding to God for others, is among the higher levels. If you are urged or burdened to pray for our nation, the world, and the crises we face, you’ll find the links below helpful.

God continues to raise up an army of intercessors to pray strategic, focused prayer, that His will may be accomplished. Those who obediently answer His call to intercession have the privilege, responsibility, and joy of this service to God and others.

The Ministry of Intercession, a poem written many years ago by Frances Ridley Havergal, begins thus:

There is no holy service But hath its secret bliss:
Yet, of all blessed ministries, Is one so dear as this?
The ministry that cannot be A wondering seraph’s dower,
Enduing mortal weakness With more than angel-power;
The ministry of purest love Uncrossed by any fear,
That bids us meet at the Master’s feet And keeps us very near.

“…I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it, but I found none.” Ezekiel 22:30

Perhaps God has called or is calling you to intercession. Will you answer the call?

It is of utmost importance to seek God’s will as we pray. We are dependent on God to teach us the how and what of prayer. The Holy Spirit’s role in prayer is of vital importance. “Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what to pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. 27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.” (Romans 8:26-27)

As an intercessor waits before the Lord, The Holy Spirit gives wisdom, knowledge, guidance, and encouragement in prayer. We find it helpful to read the thoughts and prayers of others. However, there is no substitute for time spent alone with God. Scripture records that Jesus spent nights in prayer, conversing with His Father. Through present media of Internet and e-mail we are bombarded with many “prayers.” We cannot allow ourselves to thoughtlessly get caught up with “here a prayer, there a prayer, everywhere a prayer” and not set aside definite times to spend alone with God, seeking his face. How much time? As much as it takes. As you make your time available to Him, you will have His assurance.

We have placed some thought provoking links here which we hope will stir you up to pray for the present crises we face in America and the world. “…men ought always to pray, and not to faint;” Luke 18:1 We caution that because of human imperfections, weaknesses, prejudices, and frailties, we should always consider ideas, suggestions, and requests in light of God’s Word and how He leads us. It is confirming and encouraging to learn that God has led us to pray as He has others. There is power in united, corporate prayer.
